abnormal mri

how do you know your MRI actually came back 'abnormal"? the one huge thing you can do for yourself when it comes to anything that gets tested on you, is obtain your very own copy of any and all testing results for your own medical files you keep on yourself at home? i have always obtained ALL of my MRI,CT, ultrasound and angiogram results after every test was done(takes a few days to get the actual report written). you can obtain them from your doc when you see them OR you can also actually just go directly to the facility where that test was done and ask them to just print you off a copy of any report. all you have to do is simply fill out a release of information sheet and they can run off a copy right then and there.

i have copies of all 18 MRIs done and the ten USs and three CTs and my five angios that have been done all sitting in an expanding folder type thing that i also can take with me(other specialist appts or even the ER if needed too) wherever i need to go too. just having all of your own stuff can really come in handy for you in many different ways. but more importantly it allows YOU the patient to actually just read thru your own repoerts to see what was found that would be listed in that summary on the very last page, and to make darn certain that you were even actually TOLD about everything that was found too. many, espescially specialists here, seriously do NOT always even tell any given patient about every single finding that just was actually found by the interpretting radiologist. it all depends upon just how pertinent to your actual current situation that particular specialist feels that finding is? and that gets determined pretty much solely upon 'their' actual level of knowledge ON any given finding. not all docs or speacialists just are created equal, no way no how.

but for whtever reason, i would just go to the facility who did your MRI,unless you will be seeing the ordering doc here real soon, and just get your own copy of your results from them. that part is kind of up to you right now,ya know? wondering and worrying about something or just seeing what is in that report, it kind of sucks either way depending? but if you want your own copy now, you ARE actually entitled to obtain one.

hopefully whatever 'abnormal' actually was/is, since it just can mean alot of different things, is not a huge finding for you. who told you it even was abnormal, the ordering doc like over the phone or what?? and if that was the case, why did he not just tell you right then and there? did you ask? just what was the area of your body this MRI was done on and what symptoms were you displaying that actually prompted the need for the MRI in the first place? knowing the answers to these questions really would help me to help you in the best way SS. let me know just what you find out,K?
