Abdominal spasms (cramps)

I am having a problem with my abdominal muscles seizing up on me. When they do it I can't get a decent breath of air. It takes around 5 or 10 minutes for them to let go. It seems to do it when I'm bending over and straightening up over and over. I'm using my abdominal muscles some doing this. I can feel it coming on before it starts; but not in time to stop it. It also can happen when I have a bowel movement. The abdominal muscles are used then also. Once the muscles kick in it hurts severly. I've gone to the Doctor once and was given a relaxer for my bowels. At that time it was only doing it when I had bowel movements.

Has anyone ever had this? Or have any thoughts as to what could be causing this. Thank you for any help that may be given.

Oh yes i sure do know the feeling you are describing.
I call it muscle spasms, since i had good results with ultra sound of gall bladder and kidneys. At times i feel like these abdominal muscle spasms nearly knock me out. They take my breath away and so painful.

You really should let your doc know that you are still having these. Your doc may want to order tests to rule out other possibilities or cause.

Your not alone on this one, i completely understand these spasms.

I went to the Doctor today. He put me on muscle relaxers and Ativan (Lorazepam). The relaxer is supposed to keep my abdominal muscles calm. The Atavan is for when the spasm hits. I'm sopposed to put one under my tongue in order to get the med into the system fast. I don't have a lot of faith in this; but have to give it a try until I figure out what I should do next. Does anyone know what kind of a specialist would take care of this?

Thanks for any input anyone gives.
