I have a 93 Nissan Altima, and whenever I am accelerating, my car seems to make a whining noise. It just started this recently. I took it to a shop and they said they didn't hear anything, but I hear it every day. It stops when I am no longer accelerating and also braking.
What could it be?
It sounds like it is coming from the engine.
I've had the brakes checked and I do need to change the pads but those wouldn't create this sound.
I've also had the serpentine belts looked at those were good?

Where do you think it's coming from? Let me know, but just to throw it out there it sounds like a broken exhaust manifold gasket (your headers). The escaping air would cause this sound.

Try this, Turn your car on and open your hood. While running, rev up your engine (not a lot) just so that you can simulate the 'acceleration'. By The Way do this with the car in park and the e-brake on. By doing this you should have a better idea where the noise is coming from, perhaps have a friend help you so can put your ear on what you think the noise is coming from. Let me know if you know how to rev the engine from the throttle.
