I knew my ex from my best friend's boyfriend - they're related. We broke up almost a year ago. It caught me off guard bc he was the one that was very interested and I was cautious. The breakup wasn't heart breaking but made me a bit lost and insecure with myself for a while. I don't know how but I eventually healed, got through...and not to be cliche but I came out a better person. Stronger...wiser... "eat pray love" written all over it. I accepted the fact that he wanted a clingy/insecure gf to make him feel better and just bc I'm an ambitious, independent girl, doesn't make it a bad thing...even if we're both 25. I ended up getting into my competitive medical major and at a good place in my life now 
I heard my ex has a new gf and was happy for him but found out she's "very young" (fake ID) and most of his friends disapprove...I'm happy for him but I hoped he could've found someone decent but she seemed sweet.
I normally avoid being in the same situation and people w. my ex but tonight, it was my friend's bf's birthday and he's been a good friend to me and I had to be there for him. I had no problem running into him and in fact, I'm very cordial w. him. My intuition tells me that he gets "weird" and "awkward" w. me. His gf (who i've seen here and there) also had her "eye" on me. While I was enjoying myself, catching up w. old friends, she was attached to the HIP w. him... it was also weird bc all his old friends (guys and girls) were tellin me how he "downgraded" and realize what kind of guy he was for letting a girl like me go... which is sweet/thoughtful (I guess) but I don't know if that was appropriate to say...My ex is also known to be friendly with his exes but didn't even bother being polite or starting small talk w me. At one point, his girlfriend comes up to me and says, "I feel really weird and awkward with you hehehe my name is 'so and so'" She's a very sweet girl but felt as if she was gaining my approval (almost trying too hard) and I couldn't help but feel sisterly towards her. Also, when i was sitting down talking with people, my ex was literally standing right in front of me. I gently hit him and jokingly said, "hey, you're in my way!" and started small talk w. him and this guy (who's apparently friends w. his gf) says, "hey! why you trying to touch this guy's butt? why you hitting on him? he's got a girl!" whooooaaa there buddy. Surprisingly, my ex defended me and i got up and left. There was a guy at that party who was also "getting to know me" and my ex (and i guess some ppl) noticed... (even though I made it discrete. I still had my manners). When my ex thought I left, he called for that guy and asked, "hey, so what were you doing?" Crazy night.
I don't feel awkward about the situation but I'll admit, it's a weird situation to be in...what's goin on w. everyone's behaviors?
