One thing to consider...the PS3 can use the same component video cables as the PS2...perhaps Sony figured a lot of people already had the component cables, and could use them?

werd, we tried my ps2 conponent cables and wa-la it worked

some of those problems they stated were just sony being cheap, like the cables...but some can be solved with a simple patch. it took 6 months or so for the 360 to be able to download from marketplace in the background.
