A toyota service center did not put the plug in the oil pan in correctly

wrecked engine, options? The engine seized and had to be towed to the dealership. The first fix the dealership just put oil in the engine and let me drive it away the next day. I brought it back on Monday with knocking noises, ticking, and issues at high speed. They want to replace the engine with a used one with same mileage or give me $1500-2,000 toward a new car. My car has 105,000 miles on it. What option do I have? It is a 2003 toyota camery
 
Make them replace it.
Your best option would actually be to make them rebuild it, so at least you have a fresh engine. They will probably give you a junkyard engine, that you dont know if it's been beaten up or not.

Don't take the money towards a new car.
 
Take the used engine, but have a new cam belt and water pump put on it. You might buy a used engine with lower mileage and have them install it with them paying labor. Perhaps they'll negotiate a share of the cost of the engine with lower miles on it.Your car should have been good for more than 200,000 miles. They seem generous to fix their mess without arguing, so if that's the best they offer, I've heard of much worse. Will they offer you a loaner while they work?
 
The shop is 100% liable for negligence on their part, resulting in catastrophic failure. Force them to fix the car right, with a re-manufactured engine, replace it with a good condition comparable used car, or compensate you for the full trade-in value of a running 03 Camry, which I am sure is worth more than 1500-2000.
 
I had the same issue in 1995 with a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier. The dealership changed the oil and left the plug loose. The engine started knocking and was towed to the dealership. They replace the engine with a new one and gave me a loaner while my car was in the shop. Good Luck with it!!!!
