A time to kill............

....Anybody catch that on bbc 1 last night, a superb film and even better book, read it about ten years ago, John Grisham at his very best. Icried all the way through that. I just really wanted to point out, that here lies racism at its very worst - TRUE RACISM, it kind of puts the whole big brother row into perspective for me, does anybody else agree? (yes, i know its a made up story - but less face it similar events have and still do happen)

All racism starts somewhere so of course the BB stuff was small potatoes but all the worse for being right in our faces and making us confront our own feelings. No harm in that.

I just feel that when you watch something like that, your truly looking into the heart of what a true racist is, doesnt quite compare to someone like Jade IMO, ANd i think thats what Jermaine was trying to get at too.

Yes your right there, but to me what i saw in the house was ignorance, and also a dislike of some-one (which i feel were all entitled to) and i guess there was a form of bullying, weather the girls realised it or not - and yes definetly nastiness, I just didnt see racism.

Yeah, obviously name-calling is nowhere near the same as raping a kid :( Still bad though and not nice, but some of the stuff said about some HM's on here has been just as bad as what was said in the house :(

Well, I am sorry you didn't because millions did. Not as bad as many examples but bad enough to be worrying on our screens. I suggest you look back through threaRAB and clips and you will see what we saw.

Believe you me, your talking to someone who has had proper racial abuse directed at, and what I saw was ignorance not racial abuse.

I'm not keen on the vigilanty justice aspect on the film, doesn't send out a very good message, imho...

Though the opening scenes of the film are very much heartbreaking.

Hi all,

I first saw the film many years ago - when I had two small daughters and the begining of the film is very harrowing to watch and does leave a lasting impact with the viewer :(

Morning KIR :)

I don't think he done anything wrong, when I have kiRAB, if anyone even tried to do anything like that, I'd expect my Jay to hurt them.

Hello Anna, this got moved from the BB forum

Your right about the vigilanty justice, but as parent, its probably something that crosses our minRAB, if we imagined ourselves in that predicament, also, the film was trying to portray that from a black mans point of view, the 2 white men that raped his 10 year old daughter, were very likely to get away with it simply ecause they were white, and had influential people in thier pocket (due to the KKK stance) think this was shown more in the book, hence the reason that samuel jacksons charcacter took justice in his own hanRAB. I remember feeling at the time that if anybody did anything like that to one of my family members, id do the same thing (my sister was 10 yearls old at the time) and I put myself in the fathers position - im not saying that im right in thinking that way.
