1) my external filter broke suddenly so i had to buy a new one. i went with an internal one as i find them eayesr to clean. Its been in the tank for about a month and i did another water test and the ammonia was good, high nitrite, higher than normal nitrate. How long does it normally take for the good bacteria to grow?
(Dont worrie i know all about water changes and nitrogen cycle and all of that, ive done aquatics in 3 different courses just dont know how long it takes to cycle a new filter)
2) Snails got into my tank on some plants and they are taking over the tank, (ive tried being nice and just removing them with out harming them but they breed too fast so ive got some snail killer) the problem is i have 2 common plecks who eat the algae but the snails are eating all the algae. Ive been putting in algae wafers but ive ran out and havent been able to get tho the fish shop to get them (car and family problems) but i also put in algae pellets for my smaller catfish but the plecks dont seem to like them. i also have some tetras that have flakes. One of them will eat the pellets but the other one has taken to swimming upside down to eat the flakes off the surface. Will him doing this cause any harm to his back?
Please ignor the spelling, im dyslexic and the spell checker on here is messing about.
