A strange vine is growing in our garden. Can you help identify it?

Here in south Louisiana, humid and warm climate. A vine started growing in our garden. The stem is about 1 inch thick, and it has grown (very sturdily) a good 5 feet tall. It has large thick leaves that look like unfolded green beans and we can't figure out what kind of vine it is.
It is growing up a post and it is still growing. As I said it is very strong, and it is more "leaning" on the post than wrapping around it.

It sounds like wisteria. Is it climbing up anything or just making its way across your garden?
Did it freeze last night or is it still growing?
