A Serbian Film

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I thought The Human Centipede, Grotesque and the Hostel films were difficult to watch but this is on another level completely. This made them look like an episode of Sesame Street.

It is absolutely unbelievable.

Definitely not one for the faint of heart or to get when having a romantic night in with the other half.

I'm desperate to see this film, but refuse to watch the BBFC-cut version. No doubt there'll be a US Unrated DVD at some point in the future.
I never judge a film based on a trailer or a couple of clips. I watch the whole film for myself, and then make up my mind about it.

I watched this a while ago. The film at is core is pretty good,it's filmed well and the main story line is quite emotional at times,.But,the movie is spoilt with moments that, for me,are clearly put in for shock value alone and left me feeling quite sick.

I'd take the above posters advice and avoid this one.

^ Are you talking about the rumoured scenes I've heard about:

Baby rape, and a woman getting all her teeth smashed out and then forced to give oral sex.

Lovely...

Yes.

But there are quite a few more than just the one's youv'e metioned.

I think i remember reading an interview with the director, who tried to justify some of the scenes by saying that it was a potrail of life in serbia, and that you a f**ked from birth to death. I didn't agree, and thought that he had only put certain scenes in to shock the viewer.

According to one article I read, all the atrocities which take place in the film are things that were actually done by one side or the other during the Balkan conflict.

I thought it was a brilliant film, but I didn't enjoy it much, if that makes any sense. Part of me's glad I've seen it, but part of me wishes I could forget it. I think that's probably the intended effect.

I laughed and I laughed. Seriously, overacting much? They throw one ridiculous thing on top of another. Utter utter nonsense. In Serbia, everyone gets ****ed, apparently. That's me told you the moral of the film, there's no real need to watch it.

Personally I thought Salo, Irreversible, Ichi the Killer, Antichrist and hell, even the first Hostel film have worse content. A Serbian Film was just too silly in my 'umble opinion. I don't recommend it, but I don't think it'd disturb you that much. Subtlety is not this films strong point.

The bbfc risk turning this film into a Evil Dead/Texas Chain Saw Massacre/A Clockwork Orange style legend in the UK through their actions, and this film in no way deserves it. Silly bbfc.

That is all.

Not seen Salo, but personally I didn't think the others had more worse content than a Serbian film.
Of course the bbfc are going to make cuts, I can't see them letting scenes like a baby being born then f*cked straight away making it into the cinema, even though it might look silly.

I understand the bbfc's reasons completely, they'd get heat off the government and the tabloiRAB for passing it uncut, and it wouldn't be worth a backlash. I agree. It is however unfortunate people are going to watch based on the bbfc cutting it, and the film doesn't deserve that.

As far as that scene goes it sounRAB worse written down than it is, given the wild overacting and the clearly fake baby.

I thought Irreversible and Antichrist were dark, and A Serbian Movie was ridiculous. They had more impact methinks.

Gave my opinion of ASF in another thread but I pretty much agree with everything JCR has to say about it.

The film is just ridiculous, over the top and quite laughable at times, I don't see how anybody can take it seriously.

Would you rather it had been a real baby?

Although, granted, that scene is far worse to read and think about than to watch.

Overall, though, A Serbian Film is powerful. I suspect those who found it 'laughable' were putting up mental defences.

No mental defenses required, darling. Mr 'Vukmir Vukmir' was wildly overacting, and the movies impact was hurt by his scenery chewing.
