I am doing a debate in a philosophy class and I am trying to figure a good place to start with the idea that there is such thing as a self. The other group is arguing that there is no such thing as a self (that we are made into humans and not born.) I am going to use the idea that some people have to hit rock bottom before they find their true potential and I am trying to find good success stories. Also, do animals have a "self". Those are two of the ideas I am researching for my part.
