but never hit
it is next to a ball
that is never thrown
it is good luck when found
and falls when it is lost

An eyelash! That is a good one though if I hadn't heard it before I never would have known the answer.
 
Fake answer: A pants' zipper! It's close to a ball that is never thrown, on a guy, anyway (hopefully).

Real Answer: Um...I have no clue...a Wing? Good riddle!
