A Recent Speech by Ehud Olmert, Prime Minister of the State of Israel.

Says citiation needed for Israel as well. What is your point?

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3281951,00.html is probably the origin of the claim.

I believe the justification they use (as it is against thier stated policy to attack civillians unprovoked) is that Israel is killing civilians.

When you have primitive weapons that is what happens. I'd rather they didn't use anything, but I doubt they will simply "give up".

I certainly don't think Israel has done anytihng to curb the violence or progress peace.

How do you propose Israel progress peace when it is dealing with a terrorist group who openly admit they are not at all interested in it?

If tomorrow Israel released every Hezbollah terrorist held in its jails, withdrew yet again from all of Lebanon and gave back Shebaa Farms to whoever the hell wanted it, do you really think Hezbollah will just suddenly lay down their weapons? All Israel shall have gained is a few thousand more terrorists now fighting for Hezbollah and continuing to attack them until they are destroyed. What do you propose they do instead, short of all jumping into the sea as Hezbollah and Hamas desire?

Hezbollah have stated they will stop rocket attacks if they stop bombing the crap out of lebanon.

Nope, but I do think they wouldn't attack Israel. There is no way to ensuer it's never happen again, but while they don't support Israel's existence they are not commited to it's desctruction.

Now they have just strengthed Hezbollah in the medium to long term.

No. You are forgetting the world "temporarily" in your first point. They will TEMPORARILY stop rocket attacks so as to regroup, rearm, and prepare to attack again. They openly admit this, as they have not offered any sort of lasting peace, EVER.

Where do you come up with this bullshit that Hezbollah is not commited to Israel's destruction and would miraculously not attack again?

So why were they not firing at Israel before Israel launched airstrikes?

He didn't say it was temporary, I was merely mentioning what Hezboolah said.

Political stance military goal.

They did, they crossed Israel's borders and launched a an unprovoked suprise attack in order to kidnap two soldiers. If they had begun launching missiles right before this, the soldiers would have been on alert and this would not have occured (at least as easily).

I don't understand your second point at all. Hezbollah and its leaders openly state they will stop at nothing less than the destruction of Israel. Nasrallah is the political and also 'military' leader. Wherein lies the confusion?

I am not disputing that Hezbollah started the conflict, but they certainly didn't just start raining down hunderds of rockets.

Just because Hezbollah took an action agasint the Israel does not mean the Israel is justified in doing anything they wish to and remain blameless.
