My mom bought my brother a 99 Ranger in February of 09 and over Memorial Day weekend the truck started emmiting sparks from under the hood while he was driving on the express way. When the tow truck driver got his car he told my brother that Ford Rangers had a recall on a part that could be responsible for the fire. Two days ago my mom got a letter in the mail saying "That there was a part recalled that could could be a potential underhood fire risk and that if we brought the car in they would fix it for us. It also said Until your vehicile is repaired, please park your vehicile away from structures to prevent a potential underhood fire from spreading." We would like to know since the car was completely screwed and was junked, if there was any point in calling a lawer and possibly taking this to court to see if maybe he could get something for it. So basically my question is do you think its worth it to persue this, or should we just leave it alone and be happy that they paid the rest of the car off for her and didn't leave her with a car payment on a car we don't own anymore. And also shouldn't the dealership she bought the car from have known about the recall and could they be in any position to go after as well?
