Oh Well!
by Koye Lott

I say poets rule the world...
and this here's the promo
You say poetry is GAY...
so I must be a homo...
sapien
who made these men
and women who critique us?
They're thumbing down
like loser clowns
like thumbs down will defeat us

They greet us with hate
when what we write about is hope
I could write them all a prison
and make them drop the soap...
but no quote will I give to them
for they are undeserved
So for all you trolls who creep...
Oh Well! You just got served!
Hiram, I haven't a clue what you're talking about. I didn't know you were so vain. this poem wasn't even about you or Lano. Apparently you feel it is.

Friend, those who lean to literary diatribes, set in cadence or rhyme, are not beating the crap out of someone. But anger in a poet? It is a sight to behold. Thank those who bring you to anger as you thank those who bring you to love; all emotion must be a well-fitted suit on any poet, and this one suits- and fits - you well.

Don't know which event you pen of, as there are so many.
But I know you know, there is good and bad in everything.
as well what one thinks of self is more important, then what negative
others think. I doubt thumbs down will ever leave us, I just hop around and give thumbs up........as for ignorant wordage I try my best to ignore it, and move on, as I doubt words will touch certain people's heart. You have a gift of pen, some may be jealous of that.
Blessings be.

I think your words resonate for all the "haters" who shouldn't put down the lovely words that take time and care for you all to write!!! I so dislike trolls!!!

When at the age of 17, I had been writing poetry for about 7 years. My peers, those of my own age group started teasing me about writing poetry. I was not called gay, back then the word was queer. "Only queers write poetry!". So I quit. I still thought them in my head, I just didn't write them down or show them to anyone. Then one day in my thirties, I had an inspiration and wrote it down. I was at work, and a co-worker saw it. I figured I was in for a lot of snide remarks again, but no, he asked for a copy. He took it to the local paper who actually printed it. Some of the same people who called me"that queer poet guy", called me to tell me how good it was. It's a fad thing to knock poets, it comes and it goes, but I am secure enough in my own manhood, that it doesn't matter any more what the name-callers have to say. I simply smile at them and take my royalty checks to the bank. Speaking of which, you need to start compiling your best work into a manuscript. I have an idea you are about ready for a book of your own.

The world is full of critics who cannot write and in their spite they try to bring others down.

I seem to be targetted by some idiot who thumbs down all those who respond to my postings. What a pointless exercise!

Being on AY has given me an insight into humankind, this planet will never be at peace as so many people are programmed to hate those they do not understand or agree with.
Sad isn't it?

I'd like to kill em
with kindness
if I could

Break their thumbs
of the habit
of turning down

Send them packing
with lots
of love

Until they get it that
poetry rocks
the world

Koye: I like your poetry, your message, and you. Don't let these people get you down. They're not worth it.

We just get a flow of fools through which will probably diminish after Labor Day puts them back into their training encampments.
Of course, we generated a couple of our own along the way, but say what they will they are ours even if they lack basic social skills.
Great write though.

I have said in the past that poetry as a popular medium (sales, fan bases, people memorizing and repeating poems other than their own) is dead.

I have described myself as a hack. I agree my God given right to an opinion is worthless. I have also been accused of being a troll.

So this poem is addressed to me.

Your usual suave styles is lacking in this rant,
and the homophobic humor doesn't enhance it much.

If this is served, put me up with a side of ice cream.

The debate of who is worthy to be here brings us all down.

Poets do NOT rule the world - that kind of elitist mindset is pompous. Good poets SERVE the world perhaps, but that's as far as it goes.

5 TDs, eh? I'm sure there are many more stunted minds than that around who are too insecure to feel comfortable with someone having a different opinion to their own. Let's try for 10, shall we?

I can think of one or two people this may be about, but, I will say this, Semper, you wield your words well with the pen of creativity.

yes a bunch of little teeny-boppers came around lately to mock and malign us but personally i was too busy reading and marvellng in the things that all of you guys were posting that i totally ignored them. i think they are dwindling now though...good job, gotta weed 'em out, huh?

And let me state for the record that no male poet here at YA who is hetero has anything in their work that would make them appear gay- in fact, quite the opposite.
