A question to all. If a paper or news channel is bias but only one making the story

out to be major, what then? Basically forget two sides here. Rather how about we try a little thinking. It one news source makes a big deal out of something the others don't, is it wrong or right? If it's correct then, what about others. Rules of probablity here dictates that some news source you cry out as bias could get something right. While the one you agree with could get it wrong.

My point is this, if ya refuse one source as bias non-stop either FOX, CNN or something else. Then say it was the only one who reported it. (Before you say anything this isn't a jab at FOX)

How can we know by one one source is this piece of news worth trusting, if only one source report it. You do realize a lot of Journalist do have a code of ethics so they could well be trying to report truth but others dismiss it as bias.

Okay this sounded better in my head. I best stop.

A question to all. If a paper or news channel is bias but only one making the story out to be major, what then?

The best way to judge the news, then, is to take in all sources and make up your own mind. Clearly the bias in news sources is not entirely for the news sources, but rather the audiences.

You can bet Fox won't make a huge deal out of stories that paint Republicans badly; that doesn't mean that a story that paints them badly should be discredited if it contains facts.

Bias is not just found in the stories that a news agency reports, but also in the stories they CHOOSE to NOT report.

When you consider how EVERY soldier's death was reported as "another soldier sent to die for Bush's war" when Bush was President..... and now we have more fataliites than ever, but we get virtually NO news stories about the death toll... we MUST conclude a Liberal Bias that attacked Bush, but now defends Obama.

MOST news agencies FAIL to offer objective journalism, and now when we have one that actually DOES tell the stories that the others don't report (FOX), they are perceived as being "far right" when they are actually center.

As Bernard Goldberg wrote, "The Left is SO FAR 'left' that to them, actual 'center' appears to be the 'far right'." And I think he's right.

OUR jobs as citizens is to be INFORMED so we should be taking it all in and making our own judgments. Anyone who looks to ONE source to "think for them" is a fool..... and there are MANY.

MANY people trust everything that Dan Rather told them... or Walter Cronkite... or Commie Katie Currick.

So you're asking the news media equivalent of "...if a tree falls in the the woods"?

one would think if only one source is reporting a story, and doing so with zeal, than they are trying to capitalize on the story and/or promote a view point.

If the story is as important as one organization might think, then other news outlets should follow suit in time, like what happened with Watergate.
