A question for males--What would you wear if you had to report to jail to begin...

...serving a sentence? Ok, so I have to report to jail to start serving an 18 month sentence and since I'm going to be forced to wear an orange jumpsuit soon for the next year and a half, I wanted one last opportunity to wear a suit & tie, expensive shoes, designer socks/underwear when I report or self-surrender to jail to begin serving the sentence. But a friend of mine thinks that's crazy and said that the worst thing I could do is look like a cocky jerk in designer clothing, once I hand myself over to the booking officers. He thinks that I should wear very basic clothing, in order to speed up the booking process and strip search, and that I need to look humble when I arrive. He came over to my place the other day and brought me a set of clothing that he thinks would be most appropriate to report in--a plain white shirt, gym shorts, white socks and tighty whities for underwear. That's it. He's driving me to the jail when I report and he thinks that I should just enter the booking area in my socks, since they confiscate the new inmate's shoes right away.

Any opinions--is this the way to go, even if I look like a pathetic guy from the Salvation Army when I arrive in a cheap t-shirt, shorts, socks and some lame, discount white briefs that everyone is going to make fun of?

Are you for real? OK, lets assume you are serious. You'll be wearing the cloths you come in when you get out. Can you imagine what will become of your nice suit in storage there?
As for the people, who work there, they do not care. They've seen all kinds of idiots, even the ones like you.

Get over yourself and your ego--you're going to jail. You need to report in as simple and cheap clothing as possible--stuff that is easy and quick to remove when the officers strip search you and things that can go missing or get damaged in storage. T-shirt, shorts, socks, briefs and maybe flip flops. That's it. When you walk into that booking center to start serving your time, you no longer have any property at all--nothing is yours anymore. Believe me, your b*lls and penis will be hanging there for all to see in front of the guards within 30 minutes of your arrival, and not your designer clothing, which nobody will remember.

man i think since its goin to be your last time wearing anything nice for a long time.. you should go all out and wear the best you can. and the thing is when you come out you still have those clothing. I think that showing up like how your friend wants you to show up is stupid. and really it doesnt matter how you go in.. but its all good to look your best!!

I really don’t want to sound negative at all but you should leave the suit & tie, expensive shoes, designer socks/underwear when you get out.
Its jail not an interview. Instead of doing that I suggest you do something you really enjoy.

After you get out be the best person you can be, learn from the mistake you did, find yourself a good job and buy suit & tie, expensive shoes, designer socks/underwear be happy.

Sending good vibes your way man!
