I know that there are both plenty Family Guy fans, and South park fans on here so I will ask this question. I have nothing against both shows if anyone is wondering...Now onto the question.

Now say that you are talking to someone you know and that person says that Adult animation cant happen{for the cinemas}. But however you end up finding the person watching Family guy or South Park on the tv, and probably they are not knowing that South Park and Family guy are both adult cartoons.

Has this annoyed any of you when your trying to interest someone into Adult animation when they dont care about it but not knowing that there watching it?

Adult animation can have such varying definitions. Family Guy and South Park are their own type of adult, while something like the many serious anime films are a different type. I don't want to call FG and SP strictly potty humor (I am a FG fan), but you can tell what I'm getting at.

What you are referring to is people watching Family Guy and South Park but dismissing animation as a child's genre anyway right?

I would assume it's because both series are comedies and for some dumb reason people hold comedies on a lower rating scale than a drama series or a dramatic film.

It depends what you mean by "adult animation", animated comedies aimed at grown-ups are quite popular nowadays, but I don't think it necessarily follows that animated drama should enjoy the same popularity. I'm guessing the vast majority of those who enjoy The Simpsons might not be to receptive to an animated adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

Yes, but I believe South Park has had a theatrical release, so at one time, 1999 to be exact, it was viewed as a higher standard past the cartoons, getting adult viewers. I wonder why Family Guy hasn't tried a theatrical release.
