don't you think that telling other people that is just useless, such as "There are tons of guys/girls out there"

when will those people understand that it's very hard
to forget about your special one?
 
It's a well-intentioned comment that is actually true. However, it doesn't acknowledge the pain, suffering, and mourning of losing a loved one. If it is made before a person has a chance to grieve, it can be insensitive.
 
Yeah..your right. But look at it this way..if it were that special why are you in this forgetting situation now.?
S....T happens. Sorry to say in any relationship. Sure there are alot of other people out there but none as special as the one you loved or thought they loved you?
I'm not going to tell you to move on but do something, get a hobby, and hang out with friends. It's better to keep busy. I bet that special one isn't sitting around telling others its useless, I've given up, I quit.

They are just trying to be nice and make you feel better!! You sound so attached to your EX and it might take a while to move on. you will never forget about her/him, so just try to remember the good times you have had with them and be thankful you had the chance to know them!! sorry if it sounds corny but in time you will find another.

my boyfriends ex dumped him after 7 yrs of being together and 3 days before their wedding out of NOWHERE he had no clue she didn't love him. He spent 3 years locked in his room at his mom's house and it took him another 4 years before he found me. (7 years single)

I thank his EX for doing what she did, because if she didn't dump him, then I wouldn't have him right now!!! ( We've been together for 4 years and have a 21 month old daughter~couldn't be happier!!!)
