A question about gourami fish?

Hello. I am a newbie at aqariums and have set up a 60 gallon fresh water aqarium running duel 60 gallon filters to keep things nice. Any way i have a several kinds of lil guys and galls, including pictus catfish,tiger barbs,pleco,platy, and a couple kissing gourami. And a blue color gourami. I had read that with enough plants and hiding spots you may get away with having a male betta in there. Well last night I put one in the tank. After a few minutes things seemed ok. No one realy bothered him. This morning all looked fine. So I fed them and went to work. When I got home I have noticed 2 platys and the new betta are missing ib action. I have looked everywhere including picking up hiding spots. one part if my question is does it look like the gourami is killing my fish? If so I will get them out. And 2nd. If they killed my fish would they have eatin the whole body? I know that sounds gross but I would think you would find something. Please help.. Thank... Crash
