A question about Global warming?

They say that global warming is supposed to make places hotter but why is it so cold during the winter
 
Clearly "Global Warming" isn't following the political script.

It would be far better for the politicians if it were warmer today than it really is. For some reason, "Global Warming" isn't getting as warm as the government scientist said it would.
 
Global warming does not, paradoxically, mean that the whole globe just gets hotter! It does however mean that the overall average temperature will increase. It also means there will be more extreme weather in various parts of the world. For instance if the seas get a little warmer, it may stop or diminish the Gulf Stream, which would mean that northern Europe will experience much colder winters.
It's very complex, and we may just be going through the normal cycles that global temperature has experienced countless times for a couple of billion years. We are probably not helping though.
 
Winter and Summer are the result of the tilt of Earth's axis, so that one hemisphere receive more sunlight and the other receives less as Earth orbits the sun. Calculated astronomically, winter begins on the solstice and ends on the equinox. Right now its Winter throughout the Northern Hemisphere and Summer throughout the Southern Hemisphere.

Winter is characterized by cold weather, snow and ice, especially in the higher latitudes and altitudes.
