I intend to take the Fine Art A-level course at college, but a portfolio is required in the trial days in order to analyse whether the student is suitable for the course and capable of carrying it out. There's a few things I'd like to know regarding the portfolio...
Firstly, like to know if there are particular media techniques that are frowned upon and I should avoid using, and if there are techniques which really are appreciated in the course.
Secondly, I'd like to know whether the use of 'mind maps' are frowned upon in the course, and whether including one in my preparation portfolio will be appreciated.
Lastly, for the preparation portfolio, should I follow a theme, e.g. my life (appearance, routine, friends, interests, style, mind), sealife (shells, fish, coral, sand, ancient sealife), plants (flowers, thorns, stalks, trees, leaves, roots)?
Thank you for your time, I very much appreciate it.
