A place in Slovakia

There has been:
A Place in France (Nigel & Nippi) - Finding & Renovating a House

A Place in Greece (Brian & Andrew, Pete & Leslie) - Building a House from scratch

A Place in France - Indian Summer (Nigel & Reza) - Starting a Resturant

A Place in Spain (Lee & Cheryl) - House hunting, Building Snail farm

A Place in Italy (Paul & Rima) - House Hunting

Nigel's Place in France - Starting a B & B

A Place in Spain Year Two - Revisiting Lee & Cheryl (what happened to them by the way, I missed the end?)

A Place in Slovakia (Ann & David) - Chateau Hunting for Renovation to Hotel

And upcoming there is another Spanish series, with Dawn and Rocco looking for a 50's house, and a re-visit to Brian and Andrew in (Crete) Greece. (They also have their own website - google to find it!)

What I particularly like is the near-identical themed music, and the great sarcastic narrator / cameraman !!

IMO - Best - A Place in Slovakia
- Worst - ALL France series - too false and Nigel... enough said ;)

They are going to have to do a lot more advertising to persuade people to visit them! I guess they might think that Slovakia will be a popular tourist destination in a few years time but I also feel that they have perhaps not thought things through. I would guess being a visitor to the chateau will not be cheap and that would rule out the vast majority of Slovakian's (the average wage is around

Possibly A & D could well become the quarry - I cannot believe that they will be very good at running a hotel so running from the guests lusting for their blood may well occupy their time!

true, but thats more in the editing.

iirc they went on holiday because the building (ie roof replacement) was on hold - so no work was being done whilst they went away - fair enough

the problem with shows like this (it is enjoyable though) is that the producers would have been aware of the fact that the waiter, Lukas had permission to carry on with the roof work. He sent them a fax to let them know he was proceeding with the work, but conveniently left the fact that he had permission off the fax.
Anne got wound up more and more on the journey back despite David saying let's wait and listen to Lukas first.
Anne gets out of the car and blasts from the hip wth 2 barrells.
Good TV, but the producers must have been part of this, they either wound Anne up as well or drafted the fax without the permission fact in it.

Anyway a nightmare woman, David leave her.

I am loving it too. I have been on a weeks holiday at home and discovered it. I have now done a series link on Sky Plus so I don't miss any.

Did anyone watch The Coach Tour which was on earlier this year. I found it by accident one morning before going to work. I accidently turned the TV over and there it was. About a coach tour to Europe where people are evicted and new people joined the tour. I loved it. They said it will be back later this year but I am afraid of missing it. Anyone know anything

There's a number on the link given on this page but no email and there's no more info on there.

You could try a punt at writing to Chateau Salgovce, Western Slovakia. You never know, unless someone else can help. Hope you find her. Hopefully the website will be updated when it's open for guests.

Someone has told me that she was something in Marketing and a few years ago was runner up to the Essex Business Woman of the Year, possibly before her marriage to poor David. Perhaps someone out there can come up with further background notes?

Love this program so much, look forward to it every day after school! :D

The narrator just makes the program - "As usual, Anne has made her mind up and wished to purchase the property after 10 seconRAB..."

Slovakia: +421 904 059 667 is the phone number on the site. I expect when the web site goes live when the series enRAB there will be an email link. Shame that the programme finishes tomorrow, though hopefully they will do a follow up sometime.

I've been watching this programme from the start, hilarious! I come from Slovakia, not too far from Bratislava (have been in UK for 10 years though). I think most of the Slovaks just take the mickey out of them, i.e. when they went to meet the architect, etc. People don't do all those things with new clients, like making them fish from a frozen pond for hours on end, however, drinking is another thing! A lot of the mickey taking comes from them being british I think (hope this doesn't sound dodgy as it was meant in the nicest possible way). Poor Anne and David! It's so funny though! I feel a little bit for them as the burocracy is awful in Slovakia, everything takes ages and never really guaranteed. I hope one day I get to go to the chateau, i can't wait to see what it looks like now.

I don't know what anyone thought of Kristina (gormless goat springs to my mind), the first agent they used? She was useless with no sense of humour, despite marrying an english person, she should have picked at least a little bit of english humour up? Please I beg you not to think we're all that gormless :D ! (certainly not me thank you).

I've read in the forum that it finishes on 3rd Oct? I'm gutted! The programme brings me back lovely memories and I can't wait to go back there now and see my family.

Further to my previous post about the Place in Series' I thought you'd be pleased to know that:

Although A Place in Slovakia enRAB on Tuesday 4th Oct :(....

A Place in Greece Year Two starts the next day, Wednesday 5th Oct :)

I wish it was on in the evening!

I saw one a couple of weeks back when I was off work on holiday and thought it was so funny. The narrator is excellent - I love his contempt!

Caught another one last week and keep meaning to record it but forget in the morning before work. Will set it now to make sure I catch the last three.

I didn't realise the same team make all the 'A Place in...' series. I'll tune in for more if they all have the same witticisms in the narration.

My fave bit of 'slovakia' was when David threw the bucket off water over Ann and started hitting her with that wee stick

"Are you cleansed yet???"...

I nearly fell off the couch laughing :D :D :D

David is a bit tooooo soft, he neeRAB to stand up to her more.I sometimes think he deserves a medal for putting up with her.
She really neeRAB a reality check. Will miss her antics when it finishes. :(

Looking forward to catching up the guys who went to Greece though. Wonder if they ever got that window. :D
