Would anyone recommend buying the box set or not?

Ive only seen 2 of the films (the first two i think) and i dont know if to watch them all now before the new one comes out next year.

Yes it's worth having.

Nightmare on Elm Street, Nightmare on Elm Street III, and Wes Craven's New Nightmare are worth having. I would say Freddy's Dead is worth having too, I think I'm in the minority though.

Definitely buy it and watch the first at least before the remake.

Plenty of time anyway.

It's well worth having.

Nightmare on Elm Street, Dream Warriors and New Nightmare are the best and you could actually watch those three as a sort of mini trilogy within the series if you wish. Alice is my favourite character so I like both 4 and 5 as well, 6 is utter gash.

Onto number two, the most homoerotic horror film of all time, a lot slag it off but I think it's a bloody masterpiece, maybe not for all the right reasons but still, I watch this one more than any others. Freddy is still pretty dark in part two as well :)

I have the boxset, and whilst I agree with others that say the sequels can get rather silly, I love all of them and every now and then one of them is actually brilliant. Obviously the first is the best but the only one I would truly avod is Freddys Dead: The Final Nightmare. It really offers nothing but comedy which is not something anyone watches horror for.
