I hated it. It was everything that's wrong with remakes and modern horror. Much tamer and watered down retread filled with loud noises and fake "jump" scares. Poor CGI as well. Not only was it the director's first movie, but he made it clear in interviews that he didn't really know about the franchise or like it much. Both claims show in spades. Just another movie made by a commitee to jump on a brand name for a nice opening weekend and line their pockets with money with little regard as to how to how to do it right.

I LOVED it. I don't care if it's not like the original. still enjoyed it. It's now 2010 so it has a new prespective and an interesting one at that! All the acting was pretty good, though I hated when Katie's character died because she's an awesome actress.

I thought the new Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty good. Has anyone seen the casting sides for Scream 4? Someone should post them on here. They are on showfax.

i seen this movie last night., the nancy character has GOT TO GO shes emo and its horrible.. i understand its a remake but robert englund should have been freddy in thsi one too he would have owned it.. this new freddy guy was terrible his accents sounded a little twangie and he uses the same voice as in watchmen i felt like i was watching his character in a freddy suit.. ! if this movie was something you see before seeing the original i would say wow its really good but when being prepared it just dont live up to it

Hey! Have you guys seen this interview with Jackie Earle Haley and the rest of the cast? A Nightmare on Elm Street - Not Your Father's Freddy - FEARNet I’m really excited for the remake and think it’s so cute how in this video, Jackie Earle Haley gets so giddy when he talks about Robert Englund giving him a signed original NOES poster.

Nightmare on Elm Street’ Interviews!

Alright - I was one of those who didn't know what to think about this at first - but now that I've seen -

I'm sold. Bonus points for Kyle Gallner. Now I'm officially excited!

samething is with the sequels! alot of the kids didn't know who Jason was. Take in Friday the 13th: Jason goes to hell. There is a couple having sex in the tent. The girl, while on top of the guy, gets a pole jammed right through her.

The Friday The 13th reboot just honored the first FOUR FRIDAY FILMS, the better ones, the real F13 movies, when Jason was a human killer machine and not a slow walking Zombie like he was in Part 6-10. They played homages to the first four, added their own story and stuff to reinvent F13. The Sequel should do justice, where they can go whereever they want.

the friday the 13th reboot is 100X better then JasonX, Jason Goes To Hell and Jason Takes Manhatten.

No argument there, but the new one left it at sex and drugs, it didn't bring on the horror and the Jason myth like it promised. The kids in the second half of the movie didn't even know who Jason was as he was killing them. It was all very random.

I hope this remake is all about the creepiness and the fact that Freddy ain't no joke!

actually! Friday The 13th is KNOWN for its abundance of Sex and Drugs. All the films have had that. Friday the 13th has a very simple formula; Sex, Drugs, Teenagers partying and getting butchered by Jason Voorhees.

Friday The 13th are fun slasher movies; Sex, Drugs and Rock/Roll.
Nightmare much darker and deeper story.

I'm going to watch only because I feel it's a fan's reponsibility to watch each version released. Heck I even watched Dario Argento's The Phantom of the Opera though I knew it would suck and be nothing like the original story.

I think in this case the new actor is a crucial element to cause the remake never to be good enough/get anywhere close to the original even if everything else was fine (but I doubt they can do it anyway, seeing to the quality of horror remakes these days.) I mean, had Freddy been portrayed by an actor only in one film all those decades ago, then a new actor might pull it off ok but Freddy's been portrayed by Robert in the complete number of 7 films plus a tv-serie. No one can fill those shoes without a huge 'FAKE' label on their forehead. Besides, according to the trailer his masking either is nothing like the original. And he sounds like an old man instead of a scary boogieman/evil psycho.

And to get extremely annoying I must whine about the line in the trailer from Freddy to Nancy(?); "You have nothing to worry about. It won't hurt one little bit." and not even in a mocking tone. - WTF!? Freddy's comforting his victim? Yeah, reeally scary. Gosh. *roll eyes* I mean, that's stupid as it is but originally Freddy was a really sadistic bastard. They spoke about diving deep into the hunman side of Freddy. I think that effort was better off with the sequels than stuffed into one movie but I don't think that side would be that needed anyway.

So yeah, I love the NOES and am not excited about the remake but will have to watch it anyway. Of course I'm also slightly interested in what they've done but basically I'd say "Don't fix what isn't broken" but it would be no use since they've already made it.

That's all I ask! Brad Fuller, if you do this for me, I'll love you forever. Drugs and sex are not what modern Slashers need. Friday the 13th misused a great opportunity to re-launch a perfectly good franchise by tacking on the sex and drugs and forgetting about the actual mystery and killer!

Can't wait for this!

[sp]Spoiler on Kristen's Death(Katie Cassidy).[/sp] It is Brutal, Producer Brad Fuller confirmed this on his twitter. Well it basically did, "You just have to wait and see"

I was really, really wanting to give this a chance. And the trailer had me until the 1:55 mark. The look of Englund's Freddie terrified me as a child. Jackie's... I'm having Michael Myers mask flashbacks. And is it me or is his voice just too high and not even in the realm of creepy?

Michael Bay should be thrown out of Hollywood. He is a sucky person and he makes sucky films. I won't even tell you how I really feel about him.

As for the trailer, I'm sorry, but I think it looks horrible. Jackie Earl Haley is a great actor but no one will ever embody Freddie Kruger like Robert Englund. No one.

The Nightmare Reboot is going to be a Trilogy. Jackie Earle Haley(Freddy) has already signed on for Three Nightmare films totaled.

I read the ROUGH draft of the script and it was pretty good.

- Katie Cassidy(Kris) is the lead character for majority of the first half of the film [sp]till she gets killed off the same way Tina does in the Original. Then it switches to Rooney Mara(Nancy).[/sp]

- The Dreams are very creepy.

- Brad Fuller, Platinum Dunes producer said at comic con, "LESS WEED and SEX. BUT ALOT OF BLOOD".

- Freddy is a Child KILLER and MOLESTER.
