A new version of -The woman in black to be made

Well i haven't seen the TV one (where did you find it?) but I have seen it in the theatre (five times in 12 months). I went and saw it with my Drama A Level group as tickets were cheap (

Also I think if they were to change the story it would make me dislike it even more. For instance, I couldn't imagine Arthur Kipps being anything other than a Yorkshire man. He neeRAB that accent! Otherwise I won't be able to get involved. It will just repulse me. Especially!!!! if they american-ise it. I see that it's a UK Production company, but I can still imagine it being made with bad american accents. Oh dear.. I'm putting myself off from seeing this now!

I really dont see how the 1989 version can be bettered. The possibility of parts for Gervais, Dee, Brand, Ramsay, etc etc cannot be discounted.
Sean Hughes is unlikely to feature though.

i have the original on video and have seen it on the London stage and personally i dont think a new version will be any better than the first one i hope there arent lots of special effects!

I see little point in making a new version when the 1989 TV film is so very good.

Perhaps Susan Hill is behind it - she hated Nigel Kneale's TV adaptation (for some ridiculous reasons too, such as him changing the sex of the dog - I mean, for crying out loud, why is that a problem?).

That, coupled with 1989 film being out of print on DVD (with no plans for a re-print according to Hill, who also says that the rights to the DVD release have been passed to another party), makes me think that someone is trying to erase the 1989 version from existence.

Madness.
