A New Animated Series for Comedy Central(plus a couple more in development)

Just thank god there are no animated shows centered around comedians. After failures such as Freak Show, Shorties Watching Shorties and Kid Notorious, the last thing they need is--

(sees Judah Friedlander and Jamie Foxx shows)

Oh, Comedy Central...tsk, tsk, tsk...

I must admit to being slightly interested to see Ugly Americans, mainly because I'm an admitted sci-fi/fantasy nut. This show has the potential to be another Futurama, provided the people behind it don't drop the ball.

Bet you five bucks the first couple of episodes don't get ratings like South Park and Comedy Central cancels them after one season, like every other show that isn't South Park (or Drawn Together).

Hmm, upon reading the premise, Futurama immediately came to mind. I'm a little intrigued, but I hope it doesn't turn out to be a ripoff, or a show as freakishly vulgar as Drawn Together. Also, The Invadersteins sounds like a comic concept I tried to develop but ultimately never took off (I'm still an amateur at this point).

Ugly Americans sounds slightly interesting, but then I love fantasy/sci-fi stuff, and if it can be as good as Futurama (pre-DTVs) and not at all like something like Drawn Together, I'll be sure to catch it.

People are so quick to bash Drawn Together, not realizing how clever the writing on the show was, it was extremely vulgar, but if you could look past raunchy humor, there were some very inspired intelligent bits in the show. It also had A LOT of talent form Futurama working on it, so it had great pedigree. It also attracted extremely high ratings, so the show was doing something right.

Ugly Americans sounds... interesting, but I don't think it'll last long. Outside of South Park and Drawn Together, they don't really have much luck with animated series.

They need to stop relying on gross out humor and gimmicks and get shows that have good writing behind them. They need to get another show along the lines of Dr. Katz. Or maybe even discuss reviving The Critic.

Hey CC! If you want another South Park, FIND ANOTHER MATT AND TREY. All the wacky or celebrity-driven concepts in the world can't save a series with no heart.

I really do like more adult orientated cartoons so I'm definitely liking there are so many in development for comedy central.

How come networks love producing these terrible celebrity driven cartoons? This Jamie Foxx show sounds like trash. It reminds me of the Paris Hiltion cartoon that was in development at MTV a while back or Stripperella. It's obvious all these shows are attempts to cash in on the celebrity voicing them, so no attention is paid to the writing.

These are all airing on Comedy Central. Odds are each one will premiere after South Park, last a season or so and then disappear.

Isn't that how it always happens on Comedy Central?

I'm sure only 1 or 2 of these concepts will make it to television. Fox always has TONS of animated shows in development that are announced and never come to fruition. MTV does this a lot also.
