this happened on a wet (but not raining) day at the enterance to tescos supermarket, where i was travelling at around 10mph max. he is claiming that i changed lanes late and pulled out in front of him, yet his bike was around 5meters behind my vehicle when he fell off.
i gave him my name and phone number but nothing else. he is now hassling me to pay him money to fix his damaged bike (which was slightly damaged)
what should i do as i've never been involved in anything like this and i truly belive him falling off his bike was not my fault at all- it was his due to not paying attention to the road. thanks for any advice.
i did go to the tesco store where the incident happened in the hope of there being cctv, but the security manager showed me the coverage area and unfortunately it wasnt covered at that time.
i contacted my insurance company and told them the situation and they took my details on the incident and told me not to pay him, and that to just give him my insurance details if he calls again so he can go through his own insurance company. there were no witnesses (that the guy spoke to after the incident) and i didnt contact any either. to tell you th truth i couldnt believe he even fell off given the low speed i was travelling. i also thought that you only had to contact the police if someone was injured in an accident and this guy didnt appear to be so i didnt call them, but now after reading various internet sites it seems you have to within 24 hours of any incident. i dont want to get in to trouble becaue i didnt report to the police, should he decide to take it further.
