A member of my group wants me to enable HTML. What are the pros and cons to doing that?

I don't understand why I should enable HTML for members of my Yahoo group since I don't really know what the advantages would be or if it would just cause problems for me as owner of the group since I don't want attachments (Piictures etc. in the posts)
 
Some of my group members pressured me to enable HTML. I finally did what they wanted and I personally regret my decision. So much "junk" is now included that I have chosen the digest version so that I don't have to deal with it. Proceed cautiously because there's really no going back once you trip the proverbial switch.
