A matter of firmware: Calling all N93 users!!!!

Hey guys, it's been last since september that we heard someting about the N93 firmware and to be honest I'm really sick and tired of this. While all other phone are getiing updates I'm stuck with v.11 of my N93

1)They said early 2007, and it's going to feb very very soon.
And I'm pretty sure Nokia reads these forums as their WOM world blogs constantly writes about what we do here. Use this thread to voice your anger about this firmware issue, as in my opinion this is taking way to long, while still they have time to release the N93i
I was angry before about the possibilty of bricking my phone each time I would like to upgrade the firmware, but now I don't even get that chance. Really tired of this.

2)Also what are the possibilities of flashing the N93 with the N93i firmware?
N80 to N80ie, N73 to N73 me or ie is possible, what about this.

That would be a bad idea. For all intents and purposes, the N93i is a completely different phone and I'm sure it has a completely different firmware number. That'd be like flashing an N73 with N80 firmware. That'd be an instant bricking.

I would really like to see the firmware updated. I have been waiting since last year for the update to show up and still nothing. COME ON NOKIA get your *** in gear

I've pretty much given up on the idea of a firmware update... The flagship store in Manhattan wouldn't upgrade mine because I didn't buy it in the US. The n73 seems to be getting more attention here in the states.

What exactly are you guys waiting on in the new firmware? (not being a *** here, honestly curious). Is there something huge that needs to be improved? I feel like a lot of people want firmware upgrades -- simply because they want firmware upgrades... but if it's working fine for you, then why bother?

The n93 I used wasn't on the latest and was stable as hell -- the only two improvements I can see wanting are not necessarily firmware dependent -- those being improved still camera quality and improved reception.

I disagree, I have v11, even the latest v20 adds:
-faster startup
-Optical Zoom noise reduction algorithm updated to vary according tobackground noise level.
-Bluetooth headset IOP/Audio improvement seen in BH-900, BH-800 fixed
-Camera mode switching: Modes spec updated so that when changing from imaging mode to any other mode with camera still active the UI returns toidle screen rather than activate the sub-camera.
-ETC

So to this is a small list, and we still need fixes and improvements to the camera and FOTA like N80. And to be honest it is stable but there are some hangs once in a while.

So we don;'t need firmware updates just because we can, alot has been improved and there is still room for improvement.

Looks like Evan will do it, if you think those fixes are worth around $50 after shipping.

I thought there was a strong possibility to use N93i's FW in N93 if nothing in the internal hardware changed. Unfortunately for us, there is a new led light on the front and an upgrade in the quantity of colors of the main screen. These 2 will probably make the device run into constant, if not permanent, issues.

Either way, the N93i is going to have a different RM # for the firmware version than the N93, so even if all the hardware were the same, doing such a thing will brick your phone.

Iunlock is for emergencies only (bricked phone), besides why should I pay for a firmware upgrade when intention of the whole NSU thing is to be free and provide convenience.

Oh, I agree with you heartily. Unless I brick another phone, I'll never do business with them again. My point is that you guys are jumping up and down about wanting new firmware and Nokia not supplying it. One way or another, it's available to you, but that's the price you pay if it's that important to have the latest and greatest.
