A long journey to find the best VerizonW phone with highest call quality/reception

I've been searching for the best call quality/signal phone every day since I signed the contract and I got 30 days trial to change my mind with VZW on 06-29-07. I told the guy that I wanted the best call quality...somehow he ended giving us the chocolates of all the phones he could have given us. I live in central NJ..sometimes might a do a trip to NYC.

I got a family plan with 2year contract...which i might change to a 1year if i have to buy an older more quality call centered phone out of my pocket.

What I'm looking for is a phone that has the best reception, the best sound quality when talking and hearing, should have decent battery life atleast 4hours talk time (willing to buy a higher capacity battery if needed) and I want to use it maybe 5 times a month to use mapquest and check my webmail with $5/mo web access fee. Addtionally I don't need bluetooth, I just want a regular old wire headset that I can use occasionally when driving. (I would have thought that would be easy...but it wasn't)

So here is the story:
At first I started searching the web for Verizon's chocolate and it turned out it had terrible reviews some people even documented several defects on youtube...after that I knew I had to find a replacement soon before the 30 days ran out.

After that I decided to look in the web and mainly amazon.com through every model currently available on the verizon website and read almost all the reviews. I found for every model there always many users that were not happy with the call quality since the new phones have too many features like mp3s, etc that clutter the phones. A complaint that I found all too often is how verizon changed the software on the phones and locked away useful features to make money.

So anyway eventually it started giving me headaches that many people did not seem to be content with their phones. Eventually I caved in and bought today a consumer reports web access for 1 month to see what they had to say.

They listed as the top 3 phones:
Motorola E815
Samsung SCH-a930
Nokia 6315i

The phone at the bottom of the list...was the chocolate not a surprise there. It just confirmed that my research was on the right direction.

*Again I looked at these models and opinions differed, one of the amazon.com posts mentioned this forum I've been doing some searches and the top 2 phones here for what I want are:

Motorola E815 or the Motorola V325i

However I don't see these phones listed on the verizon website anymore...and I've seen the E815 in ebay a little over $100...but with some mixed reviews. The same goes for the V325iLINK to amazon reviews. Maybe many of the people who write reviews are upset at the product because it didn't work out for them, which is where you guys come in. I want to hear from people who used these phones what they think it's the best and why. Also I'm open for newer phones suggestions, and I'll do more research on those phones until I finally get a good product that I can keep for a while.

Let me know if you have any of these phones for sale in good condition via private message.

Finally I'm willing to modify the phone to get a ringtone or two in there and transfer a pic or two...but I can overlook ringtones and cameras just for the call quality. (i.e. It doesn't have to have either of the two options). I'm poor so I'd rather not buy ringtones.

Thank you for your time and input.

From what I've read here and my personal experience the E-815 is the CatDaddy for reception as far as VZW is concerned.

I have 2 E-815's, one still in use and one as a standby in my family plan. For my corporate plan I have an E-815 as a stand-by and currently use a v325i.

The v325i does not have all of the features of the E-815 but reception quality is almost as good.

The only reason I use the v325i instead of the E-815 is I cannot have a camera phone in a nuclear plant. The simplest one to remove the camera from was the v325i.

The v325i should still be available by VZW. It is in my local VZW store.
