A little harder, but obvious riddle.?

All numbers lead to 4 (meaning that 4 is "Cosmic")

All you need to know is:

1 is 3, 3 is 5, 5 is 4, and 4 is Cosmic.

Extra example:

16 is 7, 7 is 5, 5 is 4, and 4 is Cosmic.

Tell me how this is possible.

sixteen has 7 letters
seven has 5 letters
five has 4 letters
 
The next number is the number of letters required to spell the current number. Four is the only number that matches it's length, so if the sequence terminates, it has end with four.

because no matter what number you start with you will end up with 4
it doesn't matter if you start with 1 or 1000 you will end up with 4 or four and get stuck and can go no further.
