A League of their Own

Call me sad, but I love this movie and watching it on Fiver right now.

One thing I have never understood, when Ernie Capadino is scouting for girls to play, he firstly rejects Marla because she is not pretty. It is only Lori and Dottie's refusal to go with him that makes him change his mind.

So given he judges the women by their looks, how come Doris (Rosie O'Donnell) got picked? No offense to intended but she is not what he would consider pretty.

I forgot that it was on.Shame, because I really love baseball movies and I only ever saw this one once, and that was many years ago.I Just looked at the IMDB and apparently they made a TV series just after they shot the film, but it never amounted to anything.A bit like this years Cleveland Indians,sadly...:(

It's a great film. Good point about Rosie O'Donnel's character. I may have to watch it (I have the dvd somewhere) and have a look.

Pity FIVER showed it hacked to death during the day, in 4:3 and with a DOG that was extremely intrusive. Better watching it on DVD or on Sky Movies who have been showing it a lot recently.

Paddy :D

Great, great movie.
In answer to your question, I've thought about this myself in the past and the only answer I can think of is that maybe they wanted the Madonna character to join desperately and she insisted the Rosie character come along too. They were joined at the hip after all.
My favourite part of the movie is either when the little fat lad is causing mayhem on the bus :D or when Tom Hanks is shouting at the girl "Are you CRYING????" lmao :D

If anyone calls you sad for liking this movie, slap them!

I have always loved the film - it is a true classic from the 90s, very easy to watch, a fantastic cast and a genuinely great film all around.
