J JTJT Guest Apr 24, 2009 #2 If you're forced to use a proportion (2 equal fractions), then it would set up like this... I'm using $ over hours. 300 / 1 = x / 17 then cross multiply. 1(x) = 300(17) x=5100 The client will owe the lawyer $5,100.
