A law overturned because its sponsor believed the Bible?

I seem to recall a case in the last couple of years where a law (I believe it was a local one) was overturned because the person who sponsored it believed that the law was Biblically justified, even though in his arguments for it, he never referenced the Bible in his reasoning. Can anyone point me in the direction of this case?
