A good remake of a film

Ahhhh...Nid Des Guipes.

A little seen, but excellent little French thriller that owes a massive debt to Assault on Precinct 13.

A group of petty thieves attempt to raid a local warehouse to steal laptops...whilst an Albanian terrorist leader is being transported across the city to stand trial...supporters of the leader mount a rescue operation...they force the armed convoy to take refuge in a warehouse...that just happens to be the one that the thieves are in.

Cracking film.
 
So, you are showing incredulity about somebody claiming that a remake is better than the original - when you admit that you haven't even seen the original? Perhaps you'd better quit now - or at least try seeing both films before contributing.
 
Yep, The Hills Have Eyes was the first once to come to mind for me.

I also thought the Friday the 13th remake was ok, but then again the original wasn't that great a film.
 
Chubbler - I haven't seen the remake of Friday the 13th, I don't believe it was just a remake of the first, think it took into account the first three or four 13th films and mixed everything up and added new stuff. I wasn't particulary blown away by the original either.



I thought it was rather excellent. :)
 
Why though? And this isn't an attack ok, I am genuinely interested in why you are looking forward to a remake of it? What can a remake possibly bring to the table that the original did not? It's not like the story would be improved by current technology... the actors in the original were first rate so there's no complaint there surely? The Direction and production were well executed and the original is regarded by many as a classic, one of those timeless pieces that doesn't age. So what is the point of a remake in your opinion?
 
Fair point - although I didn't say haven't seen the original; only that I can't remember it very well. Perhaps you'd better quit now or at least read my post before replying to it. ;):p
