OK, a friend of mine is a professional graphic designer. At my request, she is custom- designing my birth announcements. I am paying her but she is charging me a discounted rate since I´m a personal friend of $25, plus costs of stock paper and printing.
She has asked me if she can put her name and website on my birth announcements, says that it will be at the bottom, discrete and ¨barely noticeable.¨ Is it normal for custom birth announcements to have the designer´s info on them? I mean if you order wedding announcements and the like they don´t have the designer´s info on them. And I´m not sure how much of a discount I´m getting, as I´ve never ordered custom birth announcements before, and I was just trying to help my friend out since she´s been struggling to find work and she is very good at what she does... so am I getting enough of a discount that it´s ¨fair¨ to have that info on them? Is it acceptable for her to ask this of me and what would you do in a similar situation?
Thanks everyone--- I really didn´t realize how expensive they can be! Plus I know she´s putting a ton of work into them, since she´s doing them custom from scratch. Not only that but she´s actually coming up with 3 sample designs to start and letting me choose the one I like best and going from there. She´s helping me out more than I realized so I´ll definitely let her do it. I think I´ll ask her to do it on the back and as long as it´s discrete it shouldn´t take away from my boys. Plus I think it would be beyond awesome if she does get more work out of them.
