A friend of mine does not have insurance - got hit by a car?

A friend of mine, on her morning walk, was hit by a car. Obviously, not slammed into, but crossing the road the woman driving was not paying attention.

My friend does not have insurance, but I am urging her to go to the hospital. I am almost positive, there are forms she can fill out for free care.

Has anyone else been in this situation? I can't remember the names of the forms. We live in NH.

Thank you.

Go to the ER, they will take anyone, insurance or not. She may have to fill out an extra form or two. They might even have her agree to "make a payment plan" for her bill, but the important thing is that she will get medical care in an ER.

One thing they will ask her is if she filed a police report or if she got any contact info on the driver that hit her. So I have two pieces of advice: first, get her to the ER for treatment and second, file a police report. Time, location, nature of the accident and if she has any info on the person that hit her. Good luck!
