A film to cheer me up...

Hey y'all, I just watched 'virgin suicides' and am depressed, kinda stoopid, as the title kinda shows its not going to be a cheery film :confused:

Any suggestions for a really funny film that will wipe away me depression?? I have seen quite a few of the mainstream comedies I think.. Like, all the newish teen comedies, and a few older ones, breakfast club etc... But I know there are many, many more to be discovered, any ideas??

I assume I'm quite a bit older than you, and think that some of the modern films are very depressing.#

If you want something uplifting try some of the older films like

It's Wonderful World (1939) with James Stewart

or Alistair Sim's A Christmas Carol made in 1950.

They are both funny and thought provoking at the same time.

thanks for your suggestions jennings, I am in need of some non-thought provoking films right now, been watching far too many of them lately, my head is starting to ache, although if you class Fargo as thought provoking, then maybe I shud give them a go, as I thought this was hilarious and is only amongst the handful of films I have watched several times.

Any more suggestions?

Me seen Black Hawk Down, good film, not especially sad, probably because I have seen so many war films, and you come to expect the death and sadness etc...

Also seen Me, myself and Irene, that scene you said is V good :D

Philiadelphia is not too bad until that stoopid music comes in... Gets me every time :cry:

I have not seen any of the others mentioned, so looks like I have a lot of viewing to do :rolleyes:

Oh yeah, anyone else think that 'Something about Mary' is just not that funny? Maybe I was just not in the mood for it, but I found most of the jokes irritating, especially those 2 guys with the guitars?? ugh :confused:

80's teen movies like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, The Sure Thing and The Secret of My Success always cheer me up, doesn't matter how many times I see them. I'm a sucker for a happy ending.
You could also give comedy zombie flicks a try - Bad Taste and Brain Dead are good for a laugh.
Or there's a whole world of martial arts stuff that doesn't take itself at all seriously - you could start off with Jacki Chan's Police Story?
 
It's just makes me cringe with laughter, and the part where he's having his massage, it make's me cry with laughter!!

Sometimes people just need a stupidly funny film to watch :D
