A few quick questions regarding flash drives?

I'm usually good when it comes to computers, but I have a question regarding this. I'm thinking about buying a Sandisk Cruzer USB Flash Drive to save my files from Microsoft on. But I was wondering a few things before I bought it -

1. Is it hack-safe? Meaning will I have to worry about it being hacked? If so, is there anything I can buy to protect it?

2. What GB size should I buy *2GB, 4GB, 8GB*?

3. Is this a good, trustable brand to go with?

4. Are these reliable and easy to use? If there's a better brand choice, please let me know.

5. Once I save my things on this flash drive, will it be safe to delete the microsoft files?

6. What's the best store to look to buy them that's not very high priced? I'd like them to be under $20.00, but I don't want it to be sucky. I've heard Wal-mart sells some good ones for only about $15.00. Is this true?

7. Is there anything else I need to know? If so please tell me. I want to make sure I buy the right thing that'll fit me and my needs and if I'll need more than one.

Thanks very much to anyone who helps or offers suggestions!
If it's ok, I think I will delete the files once they're on my USB because my dad gets annoyed with my stuff being saved with his stuff on microsoft. He says it's too hard to go through all of it to find what he wants. He doesn't know much about computers so he could very easily accidently delete one of my files and I wouldn't want that. He's already typed over a couple pages I had saved. I had to re-type everything. So I want them on the flash drive so that he can have his stuff without mine crowding him.

Losing the drive won't be a problem. I'm very good at keeping important things like that in places where I know exactly where they are. Need be, I'll get a special safe-box to store it in. It will be protected and where I know it is.

1 - Nothing is unhackable (is that a word?). You can buy drives that use encryption if you are really worried, but as long as you dont let someone borrow your drive or leave it somewhere then you'll be okay

2 - The bigger the drive the more data you can fit on it. If all youre doing is storing spreadsheets and word docs on it, then 2GB is fine. If you will keep music and videos on it, then go as high as you can afford.

3 - Sandisk is one of the biggest and most trusted flash drive manufacturers. I believe Apple purchases flash drives from them for their iPods.

4 - Simple. Just plug it in, user/transfer your files, and safely eject then remove the drive.

5 - Its alwasy good practice to have a backup copy. If you delete the files off of your computer and then have the unfortunate luck to loose your flash drive, then all of your files will be gone.

6 - Walmart is as good as any other place.

7 - Just make sure to keep backups of your data and before you remove the flash drive from any computer, make sure you safely eject/unmount it first.

1. You can get hacked by them i guess if some one stole but that is highly unlikely
2. 2gb if you are only saving microsoft word if you are saving power points pictures videos i recommend a lot more
3. no brand has failed me yet sandisk is great i have one
4. if you can find a cheap pny those are very easy there is no user software need just drag and drop from the folder
5. You could but i would keep them other wise the drives dont fail keep them because you could break your drive easy
6. yea there is no need to break the bank on those things if you decide you want videos and power points i would spend around 20
7. no you should not need more than one they are so much easier to transfer files than anything else
one thing DO NOT go from mac to pc or vise versa it can corupt you files or that is what happened to me only do mac to mac or pc to pc
Hope that helped

1. I wouldn't worry about them being hacked or anything, you're only putting Microsoft files on it.

2. If by Microsoft files you mean like word, Excel, etc I would get the 2GB, they don't take up much space at all.

3. I'm not sure as I've never used a Sandisk USB drive, but from reading reviews online I hear that the Sandisk Cruzer is very reliable and durable.

4. Yes USB drives are very simple to use and are reliable. I would also recommend you take a look at Kingston flash drives.

5. I wouldn't delete the files unless you absolutely need the space, you never know what can happen such as losing the flash drive.

6. If you don't mind shopping for them online I would recommend Tigerdirect.com or Newegg .com. If you want to go to a store Wal-mart is just fine. Here's one for a good deal online though http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3038088&CatId=1994

7. I think that's about it.
