About applying, work ethic, pay, and job opportunities. I'm looking to apply at a Sprint Call Center in Oklahoma. I was told mixed signals by an employee that works there, and a friend who had applied there and went through a few training courses.
Would they replace you easily? I've heard that (as most call centers) they replace the employee after so many months (6 maybe?)
From my friend that works there, everything seems grand about the job as long as you don't mind answering phone calls and working with a customer over the phone. This is half the job that I currently have, which is store manager at a Cricket Wireless franchise.
The pay is low, and the opportunity for improvement would only come along if I were to move to another state, which I'm not willing to do at the moment. So along came the referral and Sprint job opportunity.
Drug tests: Random ones? Very strict? This isn't a big deal to me. Every now and then I partake in extracurricular activities with marijuana, but it wouldn't be something hard to stop. I've actually already stopped in case of an interview and test, in which I have purchased home testing strips.
Pay: I hear raises do not come along often, but it took me two years to go from 8 to 9 an hour at Cricket. They pay a minimum of 11.92 here depending on customer service/cell phone experience in which I have a combined 5+ years. Plus Sprint's bonus checks seem to be worthwhile. The more you appease a customer and the more you are able to sell them on something (or even educate) the more points you get followed by more bonuses.
Job opportunity: I've heard that individuals can move up depending on work ethic and sales techniques.
Point system: It doesn't seem hard to complete you quoted points to reach as long as your motivation for the job and punctuality are in tune. Is this true?
Job Security: As I said earlier, I'm afraid to begin a career there just to be replaced a half a year later because they feel it would be easier to pay someone less to do the same job.
Now I'm an excellent salesman with years of management experience behind me. Working at a call center would not bother me with two 15 minute breaks and a 1 hour lunch. The pay sounds excellent compared to what I've been getting at Cricket (mind you it tops out at 10 an hour, a dollar more then I make now if I stay with the company. I would reach this in 6 months. 3 years after being hired at 8 an hour.)
I also want to know the ratio of how much sales depends as opposed to educating the customer on products and advancements for their service.
Basically, would it be a good job opportunity? Especially seeing as I've peaked out at my current job and feel no advancements would be to come.
My boss at Cricket is also my landlord and best friend. I have no issues giving my company a full two weeks notice in a written agreement to give them time to replace me, but would like to hear about the job stability within a Sprint Call Center. Anyone with previous knowledge, especially recent knowledge would definitely help me out in finding a solution to said issues.
I thank you for any help, in advance.
