A few questions about personal grooming for men?

First off, i wanna trim some of my body hair around my chest and butt area, where i have a bit of hair. i was gonna use nair but ive seen some scary stories and dont want burns on my ass. i might go with a trimmer but my question is does trimming have the same affects of shaving such as thicker hair? Also, whats the best trimmer to use? Should i give nair a try? And finally, what are some pointers for getting rid of blackheads on my nose?
 
NOOOOO NAIR!!!!!! also for black heads you could try ponds nose strips. i'm not too fimiliar with trimming though i usually just wax because it lasts longer :)
