A couple of questions about cooking Fish & Chips?

I have some idea of how to make a good batter and to use peanut oil for the frying, but a couple of questions remain:
What is the best type of fish to use? Cod, haddock or is there some other type that works especially well?
I have a home deep fryer--what ideal temp should the peanut oil be for deep-frying the fish?
