I have a couple questions I'd like to ask regarding the gauge wire needed to connect the amp and the subwoofer. I have two 12" Alpine type-x's (1000 watt rms, 3000 watt peak for each subwoofer), and two alpine mrp-m1000's (an amp per woofer). What gauge speaker wire should I use? I've heard some people say that 12 gauge is too big (which is what I am using) or that the size of the wire that connects the amp and the subwoofer doesn't matter. I highly doubt that this is true, but if it is, why is that the case? Why doesn't the size of that wire matter?
My second question may trigger some eye-rolls, but this is the internet, I don't know the answer, so I couldn't care less about which direction your eye's roll. So please, no pompous dicks answering my question (yes, I know, ironic
) I have a ported box and it's causing some devastating rattle that I used to only hear on the outside (which I don't care about, all I care about is what it sounds like on the inside) before I upgraded my system. I was wondering if I covered the slot (maybe with a 2x4 or something), would that sort of simulate a sealed enclosure or would this be a dangerous endeavor, like would the cover shoot out when a big bump hits? If I can help it I don't really want to buy and install these things again into another box. My hands have enough sores and cuts.
By the way, if you don't have basic grammar skills, please don't post. I know, it's a pretentious request. But I find that if people answer questions in this manner:

then those who answer these questions tend to lose a little credibility (as you can tell, I didn't listen to this individual).
Before anyone flames me or cherry picks my post with grammar or spelling errors, know that I just do not care.
I think besides preventing the extraneous answerers, this post is bulletproof.
I thank you for your time.
P.S. I am completely aware that this isn't the way to act if I want answers to questions, but I've corresponded on the internet enough to know that civility doesn't cut it most of the time. I apologize for the non-humble approach. I find the internet to be comparable to driving in New York: you don't get anywhere unless you're aggressive

No, there aren't any loose screws, just the side panels of my car aren't really sturdy. That and probably the brake-lights are what is causing the rattle. I don't know why but I thought I'd try sealing the box to see if I'd get less rattle (no air to blow the trunk hood up and down, lol). Thank you for your input.

Thank you, that was very detailed
I'll consider the Brown-Bread. Much cheaper than Dynamat.
Thank you both!
