A couple Betta fish questions.....?

Hi, I have a few questions about my betta fish. He lives in a 10 gallon tank with a heater and filter. I think he has a mild case fin rot. I know about putting salt in his tank, But how much? Will it hurt my live plants if there is a little bit of salt?? Also, I'm getting him some little neon tetras to live with. I was wondering how I should introduce them? It it OK if my tetras eat the betta food?

You should be using aquarium salt and it will say on the package how much salt to use per gallon or per 10 gallons. Its never hurt my plants because its not the same salt as ocean water. You should try to feed your tetras food made for tetras, they might not even eat the betta food but if they do it won't be bad for them.
