...broken but he never bought one? a client of mine got a new play station 3 by telling sony that his was broken but he never bought one and i wasnt sure if it was mail fraud or not basically he lied to get sony to send him a free playstation 3 is that mail fraud i am not a lawyer just a temp
 
I very much doubt that he managed to do this. He would have needed proof that he had actually owned the PS, such as with a receipt. He probably just stole the thing.

All you have is HIS story, right?

Sony DO NOT send free Play Stations to anyone. He would have had to send the bad unit and evidence of purchase in order to get a replacement.
