A Christmas Carol: 4/5

I really enjoyed it. It looks visually spectacular, with some great animation. Jim Carrey is remarkable playing 4 characters and there are moments of sadness but the ending left me warm and fuzzy :D :)
What was the actual animation technique that was used? I believe The Polar Express was animated the same way.

I have never read the book A Christmas Carol :o But I know the basic story :)

Saw it this afternoon, thought it was fantastic. It was animated by way of Motion Capture, a process it seems Robert Zemeckis is now fully gone over to. I thought the script was very literate, not at all dumbed down, which in itself is a triumph nowadays. I saw the trailer and really didn't like the look of it, when he was whizzing around at high speed, just made it look silly, but in context it was all fantastic. Yep, loved it.

I read it's very faithful to the source novel. Tiny Tim is in the book more though (I think). What I mean about Jim Carrey is that in a lot of animation, you think "Oh thats person x doing the voice" right? But Jim did so many different voices.

Yeah, I had no idea he did all of the voices either, just looked on IMDB, amazing. I'm also no JC fan,but I am aware he does have a lot of talent and energy, which worked perfect for this, and I didn't have to look at him!

Hehe yeah i better get going, no it's ok i looked at cineworld website and the times are pretty regular so i can see it in the week/just after.

Is the ghost of christmas past scary? I always found the one in the movie (the muppett one lol) quite scary.

I saw the 3D version - cool! :)
The picture was actually improved a lot (take them off and its like comparing an analogue TV picture with digital), with the 3D glasses and I noticed the ghosts "leapt" a bit more in 3D but I didnt feel much 3D-ness.

Its rediculous. It should be opening this week not coming to the end of its run as the Christmas build up begins. Personally i have delayed seeing it until December when it should be seen. but i doubt it will still be showing next week.

Nah, Ghost of Christmas Past isnt really scary, Jacob Marley (sp?) is scarier and the part when
Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come shows him his own grave is a bit scary  :p

Oooh sounRAB good!

And yes i agree that coming out the beginging of November was a little silly.

Luckily, my cineworld seems to have it very much 'alive' so it shouldn't be closing anytime soon.

It's worth bearing in mind that if anybody's planning to take young children to see this, it is a ghost story that has some frightening imagery and several 'jump out of your seat' moments. In the showing I attended, one young girl very vocally asked her mother if they could leave.

IMO, the PG rating is too low: it should have been a 12A.

IMDb's Parental Guide can be found here (contains some spoilers).

I loved how Dickens crack about the churches trying to keep places closed when people needed to eat on Sundays was left in that line usually goes missing in films.
