Tonight we witness Chuck and the now 70s inspired gang hooking up a holiday feast, and where sassy Peppermint Patty discovers the true meaning of the holiday. Popcorn + jellybeans = straight win, brotha.
Probably, it's been forever since I've seen it. Linus' speach here is exactly how I remember, but for some reason Peppermint Patty, Charlie Brown, and Sally seem "off".
Well...the voices were changed constantly as the child actors got too old for the roles. All the characters here are not voiced by the actors who played them in Charlie Brown Christmas and Great Pumpkin for example.
Just tell me this before it airs in my time zone: Is this cut or not? Last year they chopped off the ending--the best part of the special--to fit in the premiere of Shrek the Halls.
From the looks of it, think the whole thing was run uncut---presumably the use of the probably-bore-the-brunt-of-time-edits Mayflower episode of "This is America, Charlie Brown" to fill a whole hour let them do that. (Though they *did* speed up the end credits---looks like Snoopy and Woodstock are really going to town on their food...).
What did the rest of you think of the "This is America" segment? I'm surprised they used something from that, as these were a miniseries of heavily educational specials that were very different in tone from what people expect out of Peanuts. All the talk of death is going to surprise a few people. They were mostly documentaries with very little humor.
No kidding. That was a very polite way to put it, but I'm going to be blunt and say it sucked. Kids can learn about Columbus without having to have their favorite characters bastardized.
I mean, you could understand the adults! Blasphemy!
I didn't think it did that good a job of being educational, either. It certainly was not overly concerned with accuracy ("miraculously, all of the children survived...")
Aww, I like their "This is America, Charlie Brown" series  I don't mind that they showed the adults and that they talked (understandably) to boot.
One of these days I want to recreate Snoopy's Thanksgiving dinner, with popcorn, toast, jellybeans and ice cream
I thought so. Too bad since it is one of my favorite Thanksgiving specials. I missed it again since I came home too late. Oh well. At least I should be able to watch the Christmas special, considering I have the video in case I miss the TV airing.
