A book that i read when i was younger, i forget the name?

There was a book that i read when i was younger and it was about two kids who were in the wild (possibly africa) and they were being chased by a monster, at the end i know the kids fell off of a cliff with the monster, and two nice monsters helped them and caught them on their way down. I know i didn't give much info, but if there are any ideas it would be great
