A machine that combines more than one simple machine is known as a compound machine. Compound machines include object such as a garden hoe which utilizes 2 simple machines - the handle which is a lever, and the blade which is a wedge. A machine that includes many simple machines is often known as a complex machine which includes objects like bicycles, typewriters and automobiles.
